The best-known and intuitive arguments for the existence of God are teleological. In general, teleological arguments say that the order and complexity of the universe imply the existence of an intelligence creator. For Discussion this week, summarize the either Paley's "watchmaker" argument or Collins' "fine-tuning" argument. State the premises and conclusion of the argument. Then consider what a critic of the argument might say. You can either formulate your own objection or refer to the work of other academic thinkers. How well do you think the argument holds up? Are teleological arguments sufficient to prove that God exists?
