The dimensions of atomic nuclei are of the order of 10^-13m. Suppose that two a-particles (the nucleus of helium, mass of 6.68 x 10^-27 kgm and a charge of 3.2 x 10^-19 coul.) are separated by this distance.
A) What is the force exerted on each a-particle by the other?
B) What is the acceleration of each?
C) Suppose now that these particles begin 10cm apart about the centre of a spherical vessel of radius 50cm. What is their speed when they reach the wall?
