The cytoskeleton consists of microtubules, actin filaments andintermediate filaments. Microtubules serve to move vesicles andorganelles throughout the cytoplasm as well as to provide cellularshape. Communication between cells is supported by intermediatefilaments and can be comprised of keratin if located in the skin. The microtubule lies near the nucleus and will be the MTOC.When associated with vesicle movement, the motor molecule kinesinis involved. Here the microtubule is mobile while the dyneinsand kinesins are active.
