Alternatives to writing full lesson plans include:

1. Writing a brief outline or a running procedure, just a list of what you plan to do.

2. Writing a flow chart that says what you will do if things go smoothly and what you will do if there are questions.

3. Writing the problems or difficulties (e.g. "Students are having problems with irregular past participles.") and bringing in some materials on that topic.

4. Bringing in something for students to react to, such as photos or discussion questions, and then listening for language problems and responding to them.

5. Working from the book; following the tasks in your textbook and stopping the lesson when you run out of time.
