Learners are to choose an important issue from the hospitality industry. They must then find three academic articles from the RRU online database that discuss this topic. The task is to present their own position on the issue, informed by the research and position of experts. The synthesis maps out the arguments made in the articles.

The analysis explains why these three authors describe and/or solve the problem the way they do. The goal of the paper is to give the reader an understanding of the problem under consideration, and then present a position on the issue, defended using the articles as supporting evidence.

Learners will need to create a detailed outline of their paper prior to submitting their final product. The outline will map out the arguments and supporting evidence that will be used clearly and in detail in order to ensure the creation of a logical, linear discussion of a position featuring an acceptable argumentative development PRIOR to writing.

The paper will be evaluated on the analysis and presentation of the main points of the argument, the use of the evidence in each article to support the argument, proper coherence and ordering of points in order to develop a logical text, the correct use of APA style in citing sources, and general writing issues such as presentation of the graphic surface, grammar, punctuation, clarity and concision.
