The land ownership systems initially were indifferent not allowing Non Thais to purchase land in the country unless such land is on the government approved industrial estates. Many amendments were brought in where in the year 1999, it was seen that the Land Code Act allowed investors to pay 40 Million THB to procure 1,600 sq. ft. of area for residential purposes and if not used within two years, ministry has the discretion to dispose such land. The latest promulgation after 2007 showed that up to 49% of Condominium of total spaces in the unit can be owned by the foreign investors thus giving relief to business and residential options.
