A uniform sign with a weight of W = 10 Newtons and a width of L = 1 m hangs from a light horizontal beam hinged at the wall. The near end of the sign is a distance d = 1 m from the hinge. The beam is supported by a cable attached to the free end that makes an angle of ? = 30° with the horizontal. See the figure below.
