Question

Suicide is described as the deliberate taking of one's own life, usually due to a lack of motivation to live or solve one's problems. Euthanasia, also known as mercy killing or assisted suicide, is a method of suicide in which the act of killing is performed by another person. This form of death is often used to heal someone who is suffering from a terminal illness and has no chance of healing (Goligher et al., 2017). The other contrast is the legality of the act, with suicide being immoral and euthanasia being legal, but according to Christianity and the bible, there is no differentiation between the two. Both are deemed to be sins against God, and the Bible warns those who commit suicide in many scriptures. Christians believe that suicide is unethical, socially wrong, and unacceptable because it contradicts humanity's ideals and its primary position as God's creations (Meilaender, 2020). However, it stresses suicide's neutrality, claiming that it does not denounce the individual who commits suicide. It supports this by arguing that "God does not judge a person's single individual acts, so an unethical act committed at any given time does not necessarily determine that person's internal destiny. Suicide and euthanasia, in my view, should be considered on a case-by-case basis. Individuals with a debilitating illness or who are terminally ill, in my view, should be able to choose if they want to end their lives. However, I think it is devastating that children or adolescents commit suicide as a result of trauma, bullying, or abuse because they have access to therapy and are mindful that death is not their only choice.
