Widdowson v. Rockwell. Stuart Widdowson was walking home from work along a sidewalk at 5:00 pm in Port Moody, British Columbia when he was struck by a truck. Mr. Widdowson suffered severe injuries in the accident. The driver of the truck, Bradley Rockwell, was heavily intoxicated at the time of the accident. Earlier in the day, Mr. Rockwell and a number of co-workers had visited a bar known as the Cambie Bar and Grill in downtown Vancouver. After leaving the bar, Mr. Rockwell and a co-worker returned to a residence in Port Moody and continued to drink alcohol. Evidence taken after the accident indicated that Mr. Rockwell had consumed a significant amount of alcohol; however, it could not be determined how much was consumed at the bar and how much was consumed at the residence. Mr. Widdowson subsequently sued Mr. Rockwell as well as the Cambie Bar and Grill for negligence. ...
