A spherical tank of radius 1 m containing radioactive material is buried in the earth. The distance between the earth’s surface and the tank center is 4 m. Heat release due to radioactive decay in the tank is 500 W. Calculate the steady temperature of the tank’s surface if the earth’s surface is at 20°C and the thermal conductivity of the earth at this location is k = 1.0 W/(m.K).
