Course event Read through it then start brain storming ideas. Think about the general topic but as well as ideas for the five distinct photos that together will tell a story. Include a title for your photo gallery as well as a one or two sentence caption for each photo. You will also be asked to present your gallery in class.
PHOTO GALLERY ASSIGNMENT
1. Produce a gallery of five photos that tell a story. The gallery should have a title that describes the topic of the gallery and a one-sentence caption for each photo that describes what is in the photo.
2. The photos should be varied but work pgether to tell a single story about a specific topic or event. Check out topic suggestions below.
3. From the photos you take, select your five best photos. Pay attention to the photo techniques we've talked about in class: angle, cropping, colour, lines etc.
4. Include a cutline (a one-sentence description for each photo that describes what is being shown in the photo.) Also put the date when the photo was taken after the one-sentence description.
5. Upload the photo gallery headline, all five photos and cutlines to a Power Point presentation. Once it's ready to go, save as a PDF and submit it here.
6. Your Photo Gallery is worth 12% of your final mark. You're expected to also give a brief presentation of your Photo Gallery during class.
Everyone who presents will receive the full 2% presentation mark. The topic of your gallery is up to you. But you will be marked on how well your photos work together to tell a story. Some suggestions:
- A Neighbourhood Photo Gallery: A series of photos from a specific neighbourhood that give a feel for what that neighbourhood is like.
- A Sports Photo Gallery: A series of photos from a sporting event, telling the story of how the game progressed, featuring the most dramatic moments.
- An Event Photo Gallery: A series of photos that tell the story of a particular event: a protest, a gathering, a party wedding.
- A Job Photo Gallery: A series of photos that tell the story of what someone's job is like: a pet groomer, a chef, a house painter.
