For this next assignment, I'd like for you to write an argumentative essay. Make sure you include a specific thesis statement and present a focused argument. Your paper should be 800 words in length, so make sure you pick something small enough that you can adequately cover it in such a short space. Your audience will primarily be academic, so make sure you pick something appropriate. You'll need to demonstrate that you understand the multiple sides of the issue, but be careful to present an emphatic stance. Remember, you are presenting an argument. The intent, in this case, is to persuade.

You can present any argument you'd like, as long as it is argumentative in nature and you can support your claims in a meaningful way. Try to incorporate appeals to ethos, pathos and logos, include examples and illustrations and present logical proofs. It is also important to include a defense against the opposing views. You should also include at least four quotes from secondary sources to support your position. As always, you will be evaluated on your ability to present a cogent, cohesive argument. You are free to think and present anything you want. I am concerned with how skillfully you are able to defend your opinions.
