After several weeks, Rob realizes that the clinical supervisor, who seems very committed to her supervisees and takes extra time to meet with them, spends additional time with Elaine, one of the staff members she supervises. Last weekend, Rob was at a movie with friends where he saw Kate and Elaine holding hands in the theater. After the initial surprise, he thinks to himself, "Well, Elaine's not a client and Kate's not her therapist. So, I guess it's cool." Rob returns to work the following week and proceeds with business as usual.

3. A social worker, John, popular in the community, is getting increasingly overwhelmed. He readily agrees to take on more clients, though he is getting further behind with documentation. He is not willing to close his practice to new clients. To get his paperwork in order, he establishes an expectation for a student intern either to sit in sessions with him, or to review his own notes from counseling sessions. Her supervisor gives her specific instructions not to reference the fact that she is a student because it might scare the clients. Instead, she should say she is a case manager and employee of the agency.

5. A social worker begins meeting with a new client. He quickly learns that the client is also involved in services with a similar agency nearby. The two discuss the issues leading to the change in care, and agree that it would be a good idea for the social worker to consult with the other agency to obtain information and relevant records. The client signs a release of information form and sets an appointment for next week.
