Paul is a widower and has dementia. He has recently developed an emotional bond with another widowed female resident Daisy. They spend much of the day sitting on the couch together and holding hands, cuddling and kissing.

Some care staff are uncomfortable with this relationship and have in meetings asked the manager to separate the two residents. The manager has explained that both families know of the relationship and are happy that the two residents have found comfort in each other. Both are widowed, and both had very loving and strong marriages and thus miss their spouses very much.

In light of the staff concerns the manager has decided to run some education sessions on sexuality and intimacy in residential care settings.
