Question:

Directions: This assignment is to help you recognize the signs and systems associated with hormone imbalance and assist in understanding the pathway of target organs to hormones and to end organs. It is important to realize not only what happens when there is a hormone imbalance but which hormone is particular to a particular organ. Signs and symptoms may be similar or be widely varied dependent on the organ involved, and/or the amount of hormone secreted.

Use the PowerPoint worksheet to complete this assignment. For the first part of the assignment, follow the path that leads to the hormones indicated. You will need to determine the path from beginning (hypothalamus) to end organ or hormone. Indicate the sequencing with arrows (à) and include all hormones and organs in the path.

For the second part of the assignment indicate the disease when there is too much hormone (hyper) or too little hormone (hypo-) being produced. The column to the right is for indicating the MOST COMMON signs and symptoms that distinguish one disease from another. It is fine to list all s/s you can think of.but make sure the ones that STAND OUT are included.
