The attached JPEG file labeled "Analog channel", is the signal conditioning circuitry of the controller card of a tensometer being inserted in (IDE slot of the host PC (controlling the machine which is the tensometer). The input of the circuit is given through the header pin P7 on the top left corner of the circuit diagram and coming from the stain gage of the tensometer. The output (voltage) of the circuit is given as digital pattern out by the CS5503, on the far right side of the circuit. Pins 2 and 5 of P7 provide the reference voltage, and pins 3 and 4 provide the differential voltage of the strain gage.
The topic of the assignment is developing a detailed analysis and discussion about if the signal conditioning could all be handled by AD7710 chip. Could a single AD7710 chip handle all signal conditioning so that it directly connects to header pin P7, receiving analog input voltage, and directly giving the output? Or if AD7710 could not be used in this application, what is the reason? What are the restrictions of using AD7710? Completely explain. Your reasoning should refer to the functionality of the original circuit (which is the Analog channel) components. Do notice that merely explaining capabilities and incapability's of AD7710 without referring to the functionality of Analog channel components is not acceptable. You should relate the role of Analog channel components to the functionality of AD7710.Should be properly referenced.
