We wish to analyze the stresses in a bicycle crankshaft. (This is the horizontal shaft, sup- ported in the frame by two ball bearings, which connects the two pedal crank arms.) Obtain whatever dimensions you need by measuring an actual bicycle of standard adult size.

(a) Show, with the aid of a simple sketch, the most severe loading condition normally encountered by this shaft. Show all important dimensions, and state any assumptions made concerning the loading.
