In May 2009, 345,000 U.S. jobs disappeared, fewer than the 504,000 jobs that disappeared in April. The jobs lost in May were spread across the economy: in manufacturing, construction, retail, and professional services. But 9.1 million part time workers said that there are working part-time jobs because they could not find full time work or their employers had shortened their hours. Source: CNN Money, June 5,2009.
