Betty and Desmond are colleagues. Betty told Desmond to steal some money from a department store where Timmy worked as a cashier. She threatened to shoot Desmond and to expose his secret sexual orientation if he did not do that as she had asked. Desmond agreed because he was frightened of Betty and knew that she owned a gun. Desmond entered the store where Timmy worked. Desmond tried on a pair of pants causing it to rip at the seams. He waited in the fitting room until it was closing time. He then went up to Timmy, pointed a toy gun at him and demanded that he hand over all the money in the cash register. Timmy screamed hysterically and handed over all the money to Desmond. Consider Desmond's criminal liability, if any. What difference would it make to your answer if Desmond was not afraid of Betty and decided to steal the money because he was in love with her and wanted to please her?
