Question 1: Why is the search for new profitable projects so important?
There are number of factors that companies might keep looking for new profitable ventures, some of the primary reasons are increase the wealth of the shareholders and to penetrate in market for less exposure to risk, driving out new market with new projects or new market with same product. Diverse business is always a better strategy than to focus on single industry. It will expand the exposure of the company and thus multiple skills employment helps company to gain competitive advantages as well.
Some companies may have a single product, but this product can only take them so far as it relates to expanding their business. These companies should utilize internal resources to strategize, as well with current customers, employees, and focus groups to determine how they can market their product to different audiences or enhance what is already a great concept. This can be simply updating the design, color, size, portability, etc. based on current market prices and demand. Most customers will always want the latest and greatest, especially from a product and company they trust. Developing new models and products that still fall in the company's vision will help retain yearly profit margins.
Thinking of unique business plans shouldn't be something that your R&D department does once every year when they are looking for profits. If the company is to be successful, they should change the way they take a look at the world on a basic level, continually searching out chances to serve other individuals while maintaining the companies mission. Whether it be internal on the team, with assembly line workers, or with consumer surveys.
Making a profit in business is the most important thing. Without cash flowing into one's business it's not really a business, yet it is the most difficult thing to achieve when starting up you're a company. Profitable projects being picked up by investors is the way that people now and days are creating their businesses and thriving.
