COMP1009 - Project Management - Middle East College

Objective:

You are encouraged to see the role of a project manager within the broader perspective of strategic business management, understanding where projects come from and why they are selected.

LO 1. Evaluate the tools and techniques that need to be applied for the effective and successful implementation of an information systems project
LO 2. Appraise the changing social and organisational effects, on both individuals and society as a whole, of information systems and technology projects

Parts: Read the following Parts, understand and present your response in a document not more than 12 to 14 pages.

Assume that you are a project manager in Oman ICT Systems Company which is located in KOM. Oman ICT Systems Company undertakes projects based on specific client requirements. These projects typically include development of:
• Transaction Processing Systems
• Business Intelligence Systems
• Management information Systems
• HR Systems
• Hospital Management Systems
• Banking Information Systems
• Inventory Management Systems
• Payroll Systems
• CRM Systems
• Knowledge Management Systems
• Logistic Management software

Choose any one of the above or any other systems development project or a research based project of your liking (if you are choosing any other system/project, prior approval from your faculty need to be taken) which you would like to head and complete the Parts given:

Part 1:
Submit a work proposal for this assignment by the end of 6/11/2019, 11:59pm, which must include:
• Understanding of deliverables - a detail description of deliverables;
• General overview of proposed plan - initial understanding of solution to Part2 and Part3;
• Resources identified.
The work proposal must be submitted in a word file through the link available in Moodle.

Part 2:
Write the scope statement for the selected project. Your scope statement must include:
• Specific objectives
• Cost
• Duration
• Proposed technology that will used in the project

Part 3:
Upon review of the scope statement presented in Part 2, the management of Oman ICT Systems Company decides to include sustainable factors into the project. Identify, Analyze and present five factors to be included in the scope document of Part 2 to make the project sustainable. Also re- write the scope statement given in Part 2 to include sustainability factor.

Part 4:

Identify any one Project Management software/tool (excluding MS-Project) and present a report showing the usage of project management tool for the below given project plan. Your report must include the:
a. Work Breakdown Structure (WBS).
b. Network Analysis Diagram showing the critical path.
