In a typical metal, Richards’ Rule indicates that the entropy change for melting is of the order of 8.4 joules/mole K. For semiconductors like Si and Ge, this rule should be used with caution, and for ceramic compounds must be abandoned entirely. For the present problem, assume that element A melts at 1100K and element B melts at 650K. Using the equations for the liquidus and solidus developed as part of the prior problem set, calculate and plot the phase diagram for the A-B system for the following conditions.

Both A and B conform to Richards’ Rule.
