2. Pizza parties, star and sticker charts, even grades all represent forms of reward, thus coming from the behavioral model. Behaviorism has had its grip on education for a very long time. As the field of psychology and psychologists moved on to more complex theories of explaining the human condition, education seems stuck in a time capsule.
Discuss a time when "reward" failed in your learning experience. What was the task? What was the reward and why do you think it didn't work? Utilize cognitive theory on this same example. Leveraging what you understand about how cognitive psychology works, how could it have been better executed?
