The case is provided by a professor
Gene is an older male in his 60s, and he refers to the women he manages as "honey," "sweetheart," and "dear." These were common ways to address women when he was young and in the same position, but the women he works with today take offense to these comments. They complain, but he shrugs them off and says, "I'm just from an older generation."
Women stop talking to him and avoiding him at work. They start making jokes about him and consequently they lost respect for Gene. Last month, the company has signed big contract with a new client. The CEO assigned Gene into a new team as the CEO believes he is the most experienced employee to work for the contract. However, most of women in the new team has been reluctant to work with Gene and they asked the CEO to replace Gene. The CEO tried to understand the situation but at the end, he decided to move Gene from the new team.
