Review the given Thesis Statement:-

Thesis Statement:

The research question I chose to analyze is, "What is needed to support young children's language and literacy development?" I chose this topic of research because I am a head teacher in search of new ways to prepare children to succeed in early literacy skills and I am studying to earn my Bachelor of Science degree in Early Childhood Education. Early literacy plays a key role in early learning experiences that research shows are linked with academic achievement, alphabet knowledge, skill bonding activities, and the use of technology to support emergent reading. Learning about the different ways of teaching children early literacy skills, and the associated benefits in early childhood, has opened my eyes as both an educator and a mother. The research I conducted reinforces what I have long recognized as the importance of language and literacy in preparing children to succeed.

Feedback for my scholarly annotated bibliography

Hi, Milagro.
Good job finding two sources, though I cannot verify the first article is from the library. The citation is incomplete, and/or formatted incorrectly. Is "Library of childhood education" the publication title? If so, it should be in italics. If it's not the publication title I'm not sure what it is. I don't understand what the "/Social Science, 2" means.

If you can send me the corrected citation and I can verify the article is a scholarly source from the AU Library I will revise your grade for that part of the assignment.

Make sure you have a full and complete citation for the final bibliography.

If the title of the book is "Brown Bear, Brown Bear" than it should be properly capitalized in your citation. The title of a work is either in italics or quotation marks when it's being written about. In your annotation if you're referring to the title, it should be in italics or quotes; if it's the title of a book or publication (journal, magazine) it should be in italics, and if it's the title of an article than put it in quotes.

Your first annotations seems to focus on the children's book that the article is about more than the article. You write: "The colorful animal paintings and imagery makes this book a truly staggering piece of learning for children less than six years old." How does this identify the article as a good source to answer your question about children and literacy?

How is the author of the article addressing your question? Through what means?

If this article is just a review of the book, perhaps it's not a good source for your bibliography.

The citation for your second source is better. The formatting is slightly offer but it fulfills the need in getting the reader to your source. Please review the APA materials for the final bibliography. What I notice: the author first name should not be given, only last initial; the article title does not need quotes; only the first word of the title or subtitle, or proper nouns in the article title should be capitalized; volume # does not have the vol. in front of it; you do not have an issue #; you do not need the article number; you should have the page range; the publication name should be in italics.

The annotation for the 2nd item is much shorter. You are missing some of the same information such as explaining how the author of the article did their research.

Some of the statements here are a bit unclear: "The researchers of this article have considered the language as the first tool towards mastering the literacy," What is meant by "the literacy"?

You end the first paragraph by writing: "This article has linked the language learning with reading the books, which will not only allow the child to learn the language but also the literary knowledge of the book." What is meant by "literary knowledge of the book"?
It sounds as if the article is saying that once the child has learned the language he or she can now read books, and by reading books he or she can learn the language. Is this accurate?

Make sure you understand what your source are explaining and can describe their main points in your own words.
In the end, if you say these sources are worth putting in your bibliography that is your decision. I am not judging if they are good or not, but I am evaluating your ability to explain the source and how it contributes to your research question.

Feedback from instructor on the website annotated bibliography
Hi, Milagro.
Good job adding the scholarly articles but you did not correct the citations. Please review the feedback from the last assignment.

The website citations are not correctly formatted. You do not have the author for the 2nd site.

Nice job giving an overview of the web resources. I would have liked to see more explanation of how each specifically addressed your question. What was the answer they gave? Was it agreeable to you? Why or why not? What you seem to be giving is more of a review of the resources-what it has on the page, and what you liked/didn't like. In an annotation you need to bring the source back to the question and explain how the source related to the research question. This is different than a review. You may like a page, but ultimately find it doesn't answer your question.
