RESPONDING TO BEHAVIOURS OF CONCERN If a client is displaying a behaviour of concern e.g. is aggressive or intoxicated, you must: Approach the situation calmly. Use appropriate nonverbal and verbal communication e.g. do not shout, swear or use offensive or aggressive gestures. Seek the assistance of the supervisor, Dorothy Boyd, if you are unable to gain control of the situation. If a client threatens violence or becomes violent, contact the supervisor, Dorothy Boyd, immediately and call 000 and ask for the police. All client behaviours of concern, if not reported at the time, should be reported to the supervisor, Dorothy Boyd, at the end of your shift. At the request of the supervisor you may be required to record client behaviours of concern on an incident report form.
