Leaving a child behind for a field trip can be a difficult thing to do but as educators, we must follow protocol and procedures. When a parent is irate, it can be hard to resolve the conflict and make things better. To prepare for this conference, it is best to gather all
documentation. Having a paper trail is essential to show proof that the parent was made aware and given notice. It is always important to show respect and understanding towards parents regardless of the circumstances.

As an educator, it can be difficult to break character when you feel like a parent is in the wrong. Although I would be upset about the things that the parent has said about me, It is best to stay professional and not let my emotions take over my mindset and purpose.
Step #2- Looking from the opposite side
As a parent , I can understand the parent's frustration. She wanted her child to attend the field trip and have the experience with their peers. There may have been a
misunderstanding and conflict of interest with communication. There is a form of right for her to feel how she feels, all parents want what's best for their children no matter what it takes

Getting advice from peers can be a blessing and a curse. Seeking advice from colleagues who remain brutal can be a good thing. Asking colleagues for strategies to calm down the conflict is a good idea. I want to ensure that I approach the situation properly and clearly. Step #4- Meet
At this time, be prepared to enter the conference with a positive attitude and have
documentation present. At the start of the meeting, greeting and apologizing to the parents can set the tone for a good conference. It is best to have support from the program director throughout the meeting so that both parties can be able to discuss their concerns and statements. Explain to the parent that you understand her frustration and that you want the best for her child just as much as she does. Acknowledge that there may have been a
mishap in communication and offer an additional apology
Step #5- Brainstorm Solutions
Allow the parent to share any additional information with you about their child and anything personal that they may feel is beneficial to them. Ask the parents what they feel is the best way to resolve this issue. Offer them the opportunity to make the decision. Agree to work as a team in the future so that this situation does not occur again. Offer a final apology and agree to communicate effectively with one another in the future.
