Seven general types of facility layouts have been developed to help managers decide the best placement of materials, people and information within a facility or office.

Two of the layouts - process-oriented and product-oriented - are used in production facilities. The process-oriented layout usually is used for low-volume, high-variety production whereas the product-oriented layout is generally used for repetitive processes like those found in assembly lines.

Research a firm that uses one of these two layouts. Describe your selected firm's layout and discuss the advantages and disadvantages of each layout.

Recommend changes that would improve your selected firm's layout.
