Assignment: Literature Review
ASSESSMENT DESCRIPTION
Work in groups, select a research topic from any of your group members from Assessment 1, and write a literature review together to identify, summarise and evaluate extant information available about the topic. Information about conducting and writing a literature review will be discussed at length in class time. Please note in this assignment, you are also required to report your literature search process used, and the detailed instructions are available on LMS. Your tutor will also provide advice on how to allocate tasks among group members in this assignment. External students may choose to do this assessment as an individual assignment on a smaller scale, please contact the unit coordinator to discuss this option. The unit coordinator will directly contact Honours, research masters, and DBA students for different assignment requirements.
Team management process:
Teams will be formed during Session 5 and will comprise 5 individuals (4 or 6 members are also acceptable). A team leader will be appointed.
Should departures reduce team numbers to 2, the team will be required to undertake the assignment as a group of
2. This situation and any associated disadvantages will be factored into the final judgement of the mark of this assignment by the lecturer/tutor.
Team rules and penalties:
In the event that any team member is in the view of all other team members not making a reasonable contribution to the project, the lecturer/tutor should be notified immediately. In the absence of a reasonable explanation and resolution for this performance issue, the student will at the discretion of the unit coordinator/tutor be given a downgraded final mark for the assignment, based on documented evidence of their relative contribution to the project.
Section 1: Introduction (Recommended length: 150-200 words)
In this section, please clearly state your group's research question(s).
Section 2: Literature Search Process (Recommended length: 200-300 words)
In this section, your group needs to briefly report on how you systematically searched for the relevant literature (i.e. the process through which you finally got the literature that you will review in the next section). If you would like to provide some extra information about your literature search, you can put it in the Appendices.
Please refer to the Session 5 PowerPoint Slide 16 or 17 as the template you can use (you can also modify these templates to reflect your actual literature search process):
You can use either a flowchart like Slide 16 + a narrative to provide some details
Or you can provide an outline (like Slide 17) that indicates key stages of the literature search with explanations.
Section 3: Literature Review (Recommended length: 2000-2500 words)
This is the main part of this assignment, in this section your group needs to review the literature that you have found through the process outlined in Section 2. Get expert online assignment help in the USA.
Please make sure to review a minimum of 15 peer-reviewed sources in the part. You are encouraged to review more than 20 peer-reviewed sources if possible.
Please use the traditional narrative review style. A literature review is NOT an annotated bibliography.
A good literature review not only presents the information found in the individual studies, it also compares and contrasts findings (i.e. discovers and presents connections between different studies) and also offers a critique. The critique may, for example, be on the researcher's argument, the research design (e.g. the sampling, the measures, the methods chosen), and the results found. Refer to lecture 6 for details.
Session 5 & Session 6 lecture slides, workshops, videos, readings, the sample systematic review (all available on LMS), the Assignment 2 assessment details (in the Unit Guide), and the feedback you received/will receive on your first assignment could all help you better understand how to write a good literature review.
Section 4: Conclusion (Recommended length: 150-200 words)
In this section, please briefly summarise your group's literature review findings - e.g. What has been found in the literature; What's unknown/missing, i.e. gap(s); How does your proposed research add value to the research already carried out, i.e. the contributions of your research.
