The dysfunctional family I selected is the Bluth family from the television show Arrested Development. The Bluth family is a wealthy family that is constantly in turmoil due to the dysfunctional relationships between the family members. The family is led by the patriarch, George Bluth Sr., who is a corrupt businessman who is constantly getting the family into trouble. The family is also constantly trying to bail each other out of financial and legal trouble. The Bluth family is a perfect example of a dysfunctional family because the family members are constantly fighting with each other and they are always getting into trouble. 2. If I believed in the value of seeing the family as a unit, I would try to get the entire family to come in for one or more sessions. I would focus on the family dynamics and the family history. I would also want to assess the family members' individual needs and how they can be best met within the family system. My goal would be to understand the family system and help the family members meet their individual needs.
