Question

A 73 years old with lung cancer has been receiving chemotherapy on an outpatient basis. Her third treatment was completed 5 days ago and she has been experiencing nausea and vomiting for 2 days even though taking prochlorperazine as directed. Patient daughter brings her to the hospital where she is admitted to the medical unit the admitting nurse performs a thorough assessment. Subjective data:

1. reports lethargy weakness and a dry mouth

2. Has been too nauseated to eat or drink anything for 2 days. Objective data: 1.heart rate, 100; pulse thread 2. Blood pressure 100/65mm hg

3. Weight loss of 2.2kg since she received her chemotherapy treatment 5 days ago.
