Quantitative Research Methods Portfolio Assessment -
Since your last assignment you have advanced in your career and are now an independent consultant. You have recently taken on a project for a new charity for a rare disorder interested in raising their visibility in the UK. You have been given the data from a sample of adults who have been asked to view several testimonials ('personal stories') on the charity's website.
For this assignment only, assume the data has been vetted for outliers and the assumption of normality.
The file contains the following:
1. Heard about the charity previously/ charity awareness (1 =Yes; 2 =No)
2. Gender (1 =Male; 2 =Female)
3. Personal familiarity - do they know someone with the disorder? (1= No; 2= Know someone else; 3=Have themselves)
4. Viewers' memory of children testimonials
5. Memory of women testimonials
6. Memory of men testimonials
[Note, higher scores indicate better memory of specific details in the testimonials]
7. Website engagement (higher scores mean greater engagement, i.e., more time, more clicks, etc.)
8. Intention to contribute to charity in future (higher scores indicate greater intention)
9. Attitude towards charities in general
10. Attitude towards the current charity
[Note, for both, higher values indicate more positive attitudes)
You have been asked to compile a report that will answer the following queries:
1. Are different testimonials equally memorable? Does the gender of the viewer matter? Provide the full analysis.
2. Is there a difference in charity awareness depending on personal familiarity? In other words, is there a n association between charity awareness and personal familiarity with the disorder?
3. Is there an association between attitudes towards charities in general and this one?
4. Do gender, engagement with the website and attitudes towards this charity predict intention to contribute in future?
As part of this query, provide a table to help your clients understand the contribution of the relevant factors to intention in future.
In addition to the four sections above please also:
4e. Write the raw score and standardized equations (model) for your analysis.
4f. Based on this model, how much intention would be anticipated in a female with:
Website engagement = 11
Current charity attitude = 48.
For each query, please provide four, clearly marked, separate sections:
a. A description of the analysis process you have decided to implement (similar to what would be found in the methods section of a research paper). In addition, please support your proposed analysis with a justification (e.g., why this statistical procedure is appropriate, including evidence to support this where relevant, and/or whether steps were required to address any problems with data quality). Include any information regarding assumptions here. Also include any manipulation or transformation you have done and why.
b. A summary of the analyses and findings as would be found in the results section of a research paper. In some cases, follow-up analyses may be appropriate. If so, it is up to you to choose which follow-up analyses, but please also provide a brief rationale justifying your choice (1 -2 sentences).
c. Suitable descriptive statistics to enable the reader to understand the findings and conclusions [you will be assessed on accuracy but also clarity so please ensure these are communicated clearly to the reader, in whatever format you choose]. Note, if appropriate, you can combine sections b and c though justify explicitly.
d. A conclusion communicating to your reader how the analysis has addressed the query, with a brief discussion of possible implications/recommendations. Remember, all analyses should be reporting using APA style. Note SPSS outputs are unacceptable.
