The Healthy People initiative began in 1979 with the Surgeon General's Report that established goals to be achieved by 1990. Since then, it has been revised every 10 years. Healthy People 2020 is the most recent version and has been criticized by some for not being aggressive enough in some areas, such as National HIV/AIDS Strategy objectives, and too aggressive in other areas, pointing out that some objectives from Healthy People 2010 were not achieved.

For this assignment, you are asked to critique a portion of Healthy People 2020 and determine whether or not the topic selected is realistic or not. Begin by following the link to Healthy People 2020 Topics & Objectives - Objectives A-Z.

• Identify 1 topic with at least 5 objectives from the list provided in Healthy People 2020 Topics & Objectives - Objectives A-Z.
• After selecting a topic, click on the Objective tab within the topic.
• Select 3-4 objectives from the list, and for each objective, do the following:

- Provide an overview of the public health problem that is being addressed.
- Indicate if the objective is realistic.
- Provide justification for your assessment regarding whether or not the objective is realistic.

Support your work with at least 3 academic or professional peer-reviewed sources published within the past 5 years.
