You are teaching a group of high intermediate (B-2) business people in a class in Buenos Aires, Argentina. You have selected this reading, "Put Down that Glass: Airlines cracking down on drunk passengers with lifetime bans."

Follow the link and read the article. After carefully reviewing the suggested five-step receptive skills lesson format in section 7.2, write a list of procedures for using this article. We will get you started by providing your lead-in. Continue by completing the remaining steps. Provide as much detail as possible for what the teacher and students will do.

Congratulations! This is your first lesson planning assignment. 1st step, Lead-in - I ask students if they have ever been on a flight that was uncomfortable. After getting an idea or two - bad weather, crying babies, etc. - I will ask them to talk to their partner about an uncomfortable flight. What was the problem? They discuss for 5 minutes. Then I gather a few ideas.

2nd step, Pre-teach essential vocabulary - Select 5 words from the article and explain how you would review them with students.

3rd step, Reading for main idea - Develop a main idea question. Write out your instructions that make it clear that the students must read quickly to answer this question. What will you say and do? What will the students say and do?

4th step, Reading for detailed comprehension - Decide on how you will check students' comprehension. If you decide to provide a series of multiple-choice or short-answer questions, write those questions. If you use another strategy, explain it in detail.

5th step, Follow-up - Provide a way for students to react to the ideas in this article by talking about them. This might be a discussion, debate, ranking, or role-play. Provide your instructions for this task.
