Leadership Definition

You will recall that you were asked to provide a leadership definition back in Week 1 of the course. You will need to revisit this definition and, where appropriate, offer your new definition. You will indicate what has changed and why and you will describe how, in the rest of the Assignment, you will address these changes. The changes in your definition could have come about through greater theoretical understanding or in insights through your work experiences. If your definition has not changed then it will be discuss why not and what has reinforced your original definition.

Major personal observations about leadership acquired during the course:

As this assignment is about your personal journey it is entirely appropriate to refer to 'I'. You should focus on 3-4 key themes that have influenced you. Thus it may be the material on gender or ethics that have afforded you new understandings. It could also be a particular article that you have found extremely useful. You will need to say why and what impact the article/themes have had. Thus you will offer specific examples from a work or other organization experience that demonstrates your new understanding. What are you doing now that you did differently prior to the start of the course?

Implications:

This is very much how you will continue to learn and develop as a leader or enable you to take on a leadership role if you do not have one. How will you improve on areas that you think need improving - find a mentor, attend an Emotional Intelligence workshop etc. It is also about the organization. Can you now offer your organization something that it did not have before? Not only from your own personal development but does the organization need to think about its recruitment and selection, promotion, training etc. from any of the perspectives that you have looked at.

Overall Documentation and Presentation:

It is up to you how you present it. You might wish to use the sub-headings as above. I am more concerned about the flow of the arguments, the balance of theory and practice, the self-reflection that you have undertaken.
