1. The overall goal of this assignment is to allow you to address the following learning outcomes:

2. Students will evaluate human behavior through a diverse lens keeping in mind difference and how social workers can support diversity and difference. Students will learn about cultural differences in viewing diversity.

3. Students will apply their knowledge of human behavior theory via various assignments.

4. Students will be able to describe strategies to employ knowledge of human behavior and the social environment to promote social and economic justice through practice with diverse client systems.

There is no right or wrong answers. Rather, professional Social Workers are informed by the active use of the universal intellectual standards (clarity; accuracy; precision; relevance; depth; breadth; logic; significance; fairness). There are three parts to this paper:

Part 1 Instructions:

For this application and demonstration assignment you will need to visit a religious institution that is different from your own religious/spiritual path. In a 3 page essay, address the following:

1) Provide a brief description of the religion/religious institution including a summary of their primary beliefs. In addition, describe the major beliefs/customs (if any) related to birth, death, marriage and sexual orientation (appropriate citational evidence is expected).

2) Critically reflect on your reactions to this activity and the implications for your ability to employ knowledge of human behavior and the social environment to promote social and economic justice through practice with diverse client systems.

3) Briefly identify and describe two theoretical perspectives that may be helpful in enhancing professional Social Workers' understanding of spirituality, religion and culture. [Note: Describe the ways in which the identified two theoretical perspectives may be helpful. A description of the theoretical perspective alone is insufficient.]

You can use any religion except Christian and the theories you can use are

Conflict, Empowerment, Feminist or Psycho social spiritual issues related to death and dying

1) Based on the description of organizational culture in the text (Chapter 12), develop 3 or 4 interview questions of your choice to assess the culture of an organization that is making a difference in the lives of people within your community. (Please come up with Three questions)

2) Using these questions, interview the organization director/leader and 1 (one) employee or volunteer (either face-to-face or by phone) to gain some insight into the organizational culture.

3) Assess the environment of the organization: critically address/describe/discuss the environmental context of the organization. Your assessment should include both the organization itself as well as the community in which the organization is situated.

4) Critically address/describe/discuss how environmental features affect the organization, the staff, the volunteers and the participants.

5) Critically reflect on your reactions to this activity and the implications for your ability to employ knowledge of human behavior and the social environment to promote social and economic justice through practice with diverse client systems.

6) Part II should be no longer than three (3) pages.
