Scenario

An elderly resident of a long-term facility "Mr. Jones" collapsed in the hallway and was found to be non-responsive with no pulse. The nurse on duty called 911 but refused to perform CPR stating that it was against company policy. First responders arrived and performed CPR, however, the client died. It was reported that there was not a Do Not Resuscitate (DNR) directive in place for the client. The long-term issued a statement stating that the employee had mistakenly interpreted the company policy. The client's family members later said that "Mr. Jones" did not want heroic of life-prolonging treatment and they did not take any legal action regarding their loved one's
