Description: Working individually, and using the skills, knowledge, and processes, from your lectures, readings, and tutorials, you will create and submit a low-fidelity sketch for a new system that reflects usability and user experience goals.
Specifically, you will:
• Apply principles, guidelines, and standards of HCI and ID to produce a sketch of a prototype for a given system, and
• Prepare a written report containing your sketch and a comprehensive explanation of how it supports usable, useful, efficient, and accessible goals for a particular system.
Choice of Systems for Inclusion (Choose only 1): 1. Hike Planner
A system is required to support walkers in planning for their next adventure! This system will be used by a varied audience to undertake pre-hike activities (such as information searching activities, scheduling, and group communication), in-walk activities (such as location tracking, photo storage, notes etc.), and post-hike activities (such as sharing, and rating).
2. Mental Health Support
A system is required to support families to learn about mental health support services available to them, and how they can better support their loved ones. This system will be used by a range of audiences to undertake information searching activities, learning activities, and practice activities.
3. Ocean Literacy
A system is required to allow students to playfully explore the oceans! This system will allow secondary-school-aged students to learn about the oceans and engage in practical learning activities. Ocean researchers will use this system to identify areas of particular interest to secondary students.
• You should follow the set of activities practiced in the tutorials prior to building your sketch (i.e., personas, scenarios, data collection activities, task analysis, technology analysis, etc.).
• You must undertake personal research to explore these issues.
• A professional style business report includes the following elements: Title Page, Executive Summary, Table of Contents, Introduction, Main Body, Conclusions, References (where appropriate), Appendix (where appropriate). They should be professionally presented and include Headers and Footers, Numbered Headings, Tables and Figures, Table and Figure Captions, and be fully proof-read and free from spelling and grammatical errors.
• You must use the Harvard referencing system to substantiate and support your writing.
