Organisational transformation presents significant challenges. The change management processes must be aligned with organisational structure, human resource capabilities and leadership styles.
You are working as ‘ Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) in an organisation called‘ Talent-hub Australia'. This organisation provides training to assist in skills development across several vocational areas. At current stage of business development, there is need to make strategic business transformations.
Make a detailed report on the following questions/statements related to leading transformational practices, cultivating collaborative practices, completing ongoing professional development and providing strategic leadership in a dynamic context.
Your report must be 2500-3000 words.

• This is the second (2) unit assessment task that student has to successfully complete to be deemed competent in this unit of competency.
• The student is required to complete eight (8) activities.

Scenario:
Career Training is a private registered training organisation (RTO) based in Geraldton, Western Australia. Career Training is recognised as an industry training leader delivering nationally recognised and specialised courses.
Registered training organisations (RTOs) are the training providers registered by ASQA (or, in some cases, a state regulator) to deliver nationally recognised vocational education and training (VET) services. Career Training provides qualifications in various subject areas, including business, community services, information technology and hospitality. There are currently 400 students enrolled across a wide range of courses. There are 35 staff members, including training staff and administration.
The levels of qualifications provided are as follows:
• Certificates I, II, III and IV
• Diploma
• Advanced Diploma
Career Training follows the important standards of the industry and focusses on supporting informed decisions, engagement and participation. The RTO applies a systematic approach to ensure quality across all training and assessment services, including staff and systems. It seeks feedback from students and internal staff every month and conducts internal audits of the company's policies and procedures to ensure compliance against the standards for registered training organisations.

You are Chris, the Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) for "Career Training".
Management aims at exploring new marketing opportunities to enhance business growth. Career Training
embraced a review of their current marketing strategies and found various things, including:
• The market situation had changed, and the competition had evolved.
• The target market characteristics had segmented further with globalisation.
• The digital space and media preferences of their market had evolved.
• The organisational requirements had become more complicated due to introducing new courses.
Therefore, Career training plans to explore new market opportunities and develop an effective marketing strategy to promote the courses.

At present five people are working in the marketing department. There are two marketing assistants, two copywriters and a head of the marketing team. Marketing assistants are working for 60 hours a week altogether.
However, as per capacity assessment and demand estimate, 120 hours are required in the administration area.
Moreover, the organisation does not have any graphic designers to meet the strategic demands.
As Chief Marketing Officer (CMO), you will perform the following tasks related to organisational strategical
planning for marketing operations:

The chief marketing officer is expected to conduct industry research and lead the change management processes as required for strategic transformation by performing all the activities as required for managing changes throughout the transformation. It may relate to planning, competence building, risk management and performance evaluation.
The student is advised to read the scenario carefully and do research on similar types of business activities on the internet to complete the following activities.
Activity 1: Prepare to undertake strategic change
In this activity you will act as the Chief Marketing Officer, and you are required to identify your own personal responsibilities in the strategic transformation process.
(Refer to the case scenario and research the leaders' role in strategic transformation processes).
Once you identify your role and responsibilities you are required to develop a draft strategic change strategy to undertake strategic change in your organisation as per the case scenario.
You are required to complete the provided templates and use this draft strategy in activity 2 for consultation and feedback from the stakeholders about the need of the changes in the organisation.
You are required to perform the following task:
• Identify the personal responsibilities in the strategic transformation process and complete the template 1 provided.
• Create a draft strategic change strategy and complete the provided template
To create the draft strategy, perform the following activities:
Conduct SWOT analysis and identify the strength, weakness, opportunity, and threats for the business
• Identify the competitive strategy
• Identify the resources required to undertake the strategic change
• Identify the stakeholders that needs to be consulted and identify their roles and responsibilities
• Evaluate and verify capacity and competence of relevant team members that are required to contribute to change processes and plans (refer to the simulated website (organisational chart), case scenario and conduct internet research to identify the key team members required to involve in the transformation process based on their competency and skills)
• Estimate the cost and the time required to complete the task
o Identify and plan the strategies that are required to achieve the transformation process

Activity 2: Consultation meeting with stakeholders for the strategic change process
As Chief Marketing Officer (CMO), conduct a meeting with the CEO, marketing team head, business consultant and research and development specialist to analyse the strategic change requirements and discuss the transformational change strategy developed in the activity 1. You need to seek the approval of stakeholders based on draft strategy.
You are required to collaborate with the stakeholders (Internal stakeholders: CEO, marketing team head and business consultant; External stakeholder: research and development specialist) and develop a final strategic change strategy for your organisation.
You are required to provide the stakeholders with information about the strategic change processes and the expected outcomes

Activity 3: Communication plan
As a Chief Marketing Officer (CMO), you have planned to establish communication channels for the stakeholders to contact for consultation and issue resolution with respect to implementing new strategies.
Prepare the communication plan for implementing digital marketing and manage the changes. The communication plan must adhere to different stages of change management.

Activity 4: Learning plan
During your discussions with the stakeholders and organisational review, you have identified that your organisation team members are hesitant for the changes whenever the changes are announced the team members start rejecting and tries to find out the flaws in the system. There is lack of cooperation from the staff members, and they keep complaining that due the new changes their workload has increased, and it is impacting their productivity and increasing their stress level. In this activity you are required to send an email to the stakeholders: CEO, marketing team head and business consultant and inform them about the changes done in the change management process as per activity 4.
You are required to attach the learning and communication plan prepared in activity 4 along with your email
You are required to write an email and submit the completed template to your trainer/assessor.
Your trainer will observe your performance and complete the following performance criteria checklist.
Activity 6: Self-reflection report
It has been six months into the implementation of strategic change. You have faced the following obstacles:
• Employees' resistance
• Lack of cooperation from other staff members
• Complaints regarding an increase in workload and forcing the changes
You had planned the change management processes in the best possible manner. You have prepared a communication plan and training plan timely. But on the other hand, you have followed a strict and directive leadership style. Your vision of leadership is to be a transformational leader. But, as assessed by you, you have not achieved that mission yet.
Task
You must critically review your leadership performance, including strengths, weaknesses and behavioural patterns and prepare a detailed self-reflection report.
Include the following in your report based on critical analysis:

Activity 7: Leadership review-meeting
It has been six months into the implementation of the strategic changes. After doing self- reflection, you have planned to meet the team members, seek their feedback and make necessary changes to leadership style.
The team members had following concerns about leadership styles followed by you:
Marketing manager- He believes that your leadership style was more authoritative. The guidance has been provided to the team members to implement changes, but there was lack of motivation factors for team members. It was difficult to manage changes as staff took it as additional work load for them.
Team members- Shaun believed that team members were not given enough opportunities in decision making. They were not clear about the advantages of strategic changes going on. Cynthia was of the opinion that the training opportunities should be planned in consultation. Also, the online courses must be selected by staff themselves based on their needs.

You had selected training gaols for everyone based on your own analysis and without any consultation with the individuals.
Their personal goals were not identified earlier and there was focus on improving work performance only. During the feedback sessions, it was also observed that staff were not acquainted with latest software/tools.
Task: In this activity you will act as the Chief Marketing Officer, and you are required to change your leadership style and involve the team members in the decision making and learning process. You are required to provide support and guidance to the team members whenever they require.
