Assignment - Choosing a Storage Method
There are 3 Parts to this assignment.
For this assignment, assume that you have been asked to prepare a storage recommendation for the Director of Radiology at a small, urban medical center. This medical center uses x-ray, CT, ultrasound, and mammography; they complete an average of 100 images per business day.
Part 1: You will need to conduct research in the Rasmussen College Library or on the internet about digital data storage methods. You will complete the table provided in Part 2 using the information you gather.
Considerthe three (3) storage methods fordigital radiology images listed below:
1. Storage using active, on-site data server and drives for the main radiology image storage system.
2. Storage using a remote data storage facility or Cloud, using an applications service provider to deliver images on demand.
3. Storage using an array of Flash drives that are kept at the facility which are indexed for retrieval of images on demand
Your research for the storage recommendation must address the following:
a) cost of storage
b) ease of retrieval
c) size of necessary storage
d) limitations of the storage method (such as security and potential delays in diagnosis and patient treatment)
e) perks and positives of the storage method
You may find it useful to consult Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS) vendor statements as well as general information articles on digital storage.
