Task
• You have been employed as a Data Ethics Officer by a professional body (like the CPA, Australian Food and Grocery Council, Australian Hotels Association, Information Technology Professionals Association etc.) wanting to create a code of conduct around using facial recognition technology to inform best practice in their industry
• You are being asked to produce a framework for a code of conduct for that professional body
• You can choose the industry where this technology is being applied (and let your lecturer know by Week 9)
• You can select an industry in Australia, overseas or consider an international view
• This company code of conduct framework will also address individual responsibility as well as recommended government oversight
• Your framework will be presented in a report

Your report must address the below headings and issues:
1. Introduction
• Introduction to facial recognition technology and recent public criticism aimed at it. Select one industry that uses facial recognition technology (i.e. from Source 4) and describe how this technology is being used by that particular industry.
• Address your audience, the professional body of your given industry, and set out the parameters within which companies in this industry employ facial recognition technology.
2. Data Ethics Issues
• Outline the data security, privacy and ethical issues associated the use of facial recognition technology in your chosen industry.
3. Applicable Principles
• Outline theoretical and legal principles which are relevant to the data ethics issues identified which should be considered
4. Recommended Code of Conduct
• Set out a recommended framework for a code of conduct to be followed within the industry in relation to the use of facial recognition technology
• Justify why/if the industry needs to go beyond current legal guidelines
5. Recommendations for Industry Best Practice
• Set out briefly what individuals within the industry need to do to use the technology responsibly and what training is required (potentially to be provided by the industry body)
