Question

The courtroom is one place where we see our judicial system in action. There are many players in the courtroom, including the judge, jury, attorneys, law enforcement, the defendant, and many others. Each person has a role to perform in the courtroom in order for the trial to move forward according to the law. While we hope that the court upholds the law and ends in an impartial decision, sometimes one side believes they were treated unfairly and may act out in response. Unfortunately, violence in a courtroom is something we hear about quite often. In response, the use of metal detectors, surveillance cameras, and other similar technologies are quite prevalent in courtrooms today. Explain some ways that we can improve courthouse safety to ensure that our judicial system is able to work as intended while protecting all players of the courtroom.
