MGT-613 Leadership for sustainable futures
Learning Outcome 1: Analyse and compare how a range of organisational entities articulate values for sustainability in their vision-mission statements, and implement strategy for sustainability
Learning Outcome 2: Critically reflect on a contemporary sustainability challenge and how this challenge is being addressed by organisations
Learning Outcome 3: Synthesise learnings from an extended literature review, and analysis of organisational approaches to sustainability challenges to create a proposal for a sustainability project.
Context:
As a team of 4-5 students created from week 3, with guidance from your Learning Facilitator, you represent a consultancy, whose brief is to review the SDGs and BCorps investigated by individual team members in Assessment 1.
When you first meet, you need to share your experience, technical skills, personal strengths, values and expectations as a basis for successful completion of your brief.
In week 4, select which SDG (from assessment 1) and BCorp/s or other organisation you will focus on. You will then collaborate to create and present ONE strategic proposal for a business project that addresses the sustainability challenge, drawing on the literature already reviewed, plus more as considered relevant to support your project proposal.
Keep transparent records: an action plan (who, what, how, when); minutes of your meetings; place your records of progress in one accessible on-line folder within Blackboard; plus evaluation of individual and team performance, to be included as appendices to your report.
You then need to present this proposal in a ‘green' (discussion) paper, with recommendations for implementation, PLUS with all your team members prepare a 10 minute live/ recorded presentation as a means to influence your client to accept the recommendations of the proposal.
Ensure you provide credible evidence to support your argument, including a range of academic articles from within the Laureate Library.
Learning Outcomes.
Review models of ‘green' discussion papers and zen presentations for project/ enterprise pitches before commencing this project.
As a discussion paper, you should at least present three scenarios/ options for action, and then recommend action for your preferred option, underpinned with evidence from your research papers.
Your discussion paper should include:
1. Cover page with title, list of team members- names, student IDs (access via StudentHub forms)
2. Executive summary ( tell me the explicit key points and recommendation in your paper)
3. Introduction to the SDG (reason for choosing this one; why does it represent a challenge; what actions are being taken now by your chosen organisation; key concepts and structure for your paper)
4. Background- summary of critical literature (synthesise reviews already completed); the SDG; and organisation context.
5. Discussion: present scenarios/ options for action (at least three)
6. Conclusion: One option for action
7. Recommendations: to implement the option- what-why-how-who-when-milestones? Limitations of your paper? More research pathways?
8. List of References (APA 6th ed. style.
