Do you agree with this opinion about Wickard v. Filburn case?

On the one hand, some people believe that the decision was necessary because of the difficult economic times during the Great Depression (Gillman, Graber, and Whittington, p. 450). The government wanted to stabilize the wheat market, and the Court's decision allowed the government to create policies that would help the country as a whole. Additionally, considering how everything is connected in today's economy, even small actions, like a farmer growing wheat for personal use, can have a big impact when combined with similar actions by others. Some people think Wickard v. Filburn was a practical response to the challenges of the time (p. 451).

On the other hand, critics say the decision went too far and weakened the balance between federal and state power (Gillman, Graber, and Whittington, p. 451). By allowing the federal government to regulate almost any activity that could be linked to trade between states, the Court opened the door for the government to have too much control. This has led to concerns that the decision goes against what the people who wrote the Constitution originally intended and sets a dangerous example for the future (p. 452).
