Below are examples of the four driving forces for change to the what if analysis in planning IT network infrastructure. Can you provide any additional examples to each of these four driving forces in addition to what is given below?

1. The normal continuing growth of application traffic demand.

A good example of this is a database. Remember the old Microsoft Access Database days. These databases were great. They were easy to manage and even easier to use. The one problem was, after a few years, and countless data entries, the database grew in size until it was unbearably slow.

2. implementation of disruptive applications.

Many companies are moving their data to the cloud. This requires more internet bandwidth. There may also be a need to prioritize the data between your cloud provider and your location.

3. Other elemental IT changes also need to be considered.

This is the third driving force for change. You don’t have a crystal ball but, you can look at where the industry is moving and try to plan for these changes. Virtualization is one of the latest and greatest technologies. You may be planning on consolidating servers, in the near future, and this should be a part of your plan.

4. General change in the organization .

Are you outgrowing your current facility? Because of this, might you be planning on moving soon? This is just one of many possibilities you may have to look at before starting to implement new technologies.
