"Nonverbal codes can affect interpersonal communication in a business relationship by how our ideas, thoughts, and feelings to another person are perceived through our gestures, facial expressions, and eye contact. An example that I have is about a recent incident that I had at my work involving a co-worker. We had customer’s visiting our plant and there was one co-worker that they walked by when they were on their plant tour that had his hand in his pockets, he was just staring at the floor, and made no attempt to say hello. One of the managers on the tour with the customers heard a customer remark about how unfriendly some of the employees were. This behavior does not give a good first impression toward our customers. All it took was one employee’s nonverbal gestures to cast doubt to the customers that the employees were unfriendly or standoffish.

What are your thoughts on this?

Please respond with at least 50 words.
