Two people of equal mass hold hands while ice skating and are spinning around a point midway between them, with no friction with the ice. Initially they are rotating around this midpoint at one revolution every 5 seconds, and their arms are extended so that their centers of mass are 1.5 meters from each other. They then pull themselves toward each other so that the separation of their centers of mass is only 0.5 meters. What is their new rotation rate in revolutions per second?
