I grew up in Buffalo, NY, surrounded my extended family. My grandmother Rosa who we loving referred to as Madea was the matriarch of the family. Madea, was kind and very generous, especially to us kids and we always tried to please her. Madea was a beautiful woman even in her late year with dimples and a beautiful smile; although her eyes were a source of fear for us children. When my brothers and I would visit my Grandmother and argue or fight, my Madea would say look at my eyes, do you see them turning green? Our reply would always be yes because we actually thought her eyes would turn green when she became angry, only because she said that they would. You don't want my eyes to turn green do you was a questions she asked us often. The mere thought of my grandmothers eyes changing color was enough to bring about a change in our behavior.
