A neuron is a specialized cell. The main area of the cell called the Blank 1 contains the nucleus and other important organelles. Another name for this is the cell body, and inside are darkly staining areas called Blank 2 Several projections called Blank 3 are responsible for receiving information from another neuron. Later in Unit 3 we will learn how signals from these areas will be summed together at a triangular area called the Blank 4. The long, slender, singular projection is called the Blank 5. It is wrapped in a protective sheeting called myelin. The cells that do this myelination are called Blank 6. The axon ends at areas called Blank 7. We will learn about this area extensively in Unit 3.
