Two of the most significant major historical events that greatly influenced the modern philosophy of teaching and learning are the Enlightenment era and the Industrial Revolution. The Industrial Revolution is one of the most discussed technological and socio-economic developments in the world today, which has a profound impact on the agenda of educational policies and strategies (Spottl & Windelband, 2020). The Enlightenment, with its emphasis on reason, rationality, and empiricism, laid the groundwork for modern education by promoting critical thinking, scientific inquiry, and the idea of education for all individuals. This period brought about a shift from traditional authoritarian teaching methods to more student-centered approaches, shaping the foundations of contemporary educational theories.
